Prince George’s County Tennis and Education Foundation Inc. (PGTEF) is a registered USTA Community Tennis Association that provides opportunities for young people to excel academically, athletically and socially through tennis.
We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that develops and delivers programs to enrich the lives of under-served county youth in Prince George’s County, Maryland, through productive activities.
Founded in 1993, PGTEF develops and delivers academic, athletic, and life skills programs that foster confidence and achievement in the classroom, on the court and in life.
PGTEF programs include tennis instruction, competition, mentoring, educational assistance, and scholarships.
We make every effort, as exemplified below, to help our players realize their college aspirations.

Each participant in PGTEF programs must memorize and abide by the following pledge:
I understand that smoking and using drugs or alcohol is bad for my body. I believe that tennis is a better and healthier activity. When playing tennis, going to school, or participating in other positive activities I will do my best to be:
Consistent in my work ethic
Confident in my ability
Control my attitude
Committed to excellence
The academic support we provide our participants improves attitudes and confidence in the classroom, as well as provides for emotional support while mastering academic and athletic skills. Exposing young people to positive classroom role models outside of school increases their motivation to succeed in life beyond high school.
Beyond providing excellent physical exercise, tennis provides our participants with added self-confidence while developing social skills and discipline. The positive feelings generated through fair play, teamwork, and competition enhance the overall quality of life of our participants.
Community engagement instills our young participants with a sense of responsibility in preserving the communities in which they live. By introducing the joy of giving, our participants learn to recognize and appreciate that they are part of a bigger whole.
